Quizmaker keeps closing when opened

Jan 14, 2013

Hello.

When I open my quizmaker through Articulate, the file associated with the PPT closes automatically.  There are quizzes attached and already created but for some reason it is not working.  It looks as if it will start to load - show the quiz screen really fast (2 secs) and close abruptly.   I have other PPTs that seem to be working with their quizzes. Has anyone else come across this issue?

Hi there Britannia,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with this. Are you working with files on any external sources (USB drive, network drive, etc.), by any chance?  Please try to make sure that you're working with local files.

Here's some additional information:

If you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If the files are local, are you able to launch the quiz through Quizmaker itself, rather than through Presenter/PowerPoint?

Thanks!

Stacy Olson

I just came across this issue this evening.  I copied the file from our server onto my desktop but it stripped off some of the audio and the quiz.  When I try to edit the quiz it looks like Quizmaker opens up but if closes right away.  I try to open the quiz in Quizmaker and this also closes down Quizmaker.  What should I do?

Hi Stacy and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

When creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Quizmaker '13 quizzes, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.

Be sure that your resources, such as audio, are local as well.

Again, be sure that your programs are local as well. If you are still having difficulty, you can try the repair shown in this article.
