Solution: 4K Display

Nov 25, 2023

I wanted to create a project at 2160 x 3840 (portrait mode), but the maximum size that Articulate allows is 2047 x 2047. To solve this, I designed the project at 2160 x 3840 in Figma (you can use any tools that suits you). I exported and imported the pieces into Articulate.

- I do not export type as images. I type it all out.

- I export vector based graphics as SVG files.

- I re-scale images in Articulate.

In Articulate, I created a project at 1080 x 1920 which is half of 2160 x 3840. I imported the exported pieces, re-scaled (50%) and re-arranged them as they were in 2160 x 3840 layout.

To test, I imported Dog 1 at 586 x 1302 and scaled it down to 293 x 251 (Dog 2). I also created another one, Dog 3 at 293 x 251 and imported to Articulate as it was. As a result, Dog 2 stayed crisp and clear while Dog 3 did not after the published project went full-screen on a 4K display.

Hu Fuji,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.

I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:

  • Are you able to experience the same behavior with the images if you use PNG or JPEG files?
  • Did you use Figma to scale down the image of the dog? If so, have you tried resizing the same image using a tool like paint to see if the same quality issue appears?

As a best practice recommendation, we generally recommend adding images that do not need to be resized as resizing sometimes causes loss of quality, although I understand that your use of SVG files should negate this.

Since you are experiencing quality issues when using SVG files and viewing them on a 4K monitor, I went ahead and opened a support case on your behalf so we can get you in touch with our support engineers. They'll be able to take a closer look at why you are experiencing image quality issues using the correct hardware. Feel free to share your responses here or via email when our support engineers reach out!
