5 Scene Knowledge Checks with a Combined Final Assessment Results slide that feeds data to the LMS Not Opening/Loading in browser when published

Mar 18, 2024

UPDATE:

I wanted to update the below issue with the answer.  The short answer is the Include In Shuffle column property was set to Never instead of the default Randomly for every question.  So, when the course tried to launch it knew it had quizzes but hung when there were essentially no questions to load.

Hello,

If anyone can take a look at the attached PPT and help me out with troubleshooting the below, I would greatly appreciate it!

OVERVIEW OF PROBLEM

SLIDE 2:

Lays out the structure. Each scene contains its own results slide which is set as a Knowledge Check.  The End of Course scene has a results slide setup as a Final Assessment that tallies the other Knowledge Checks.  This tally slide is sent to the LMS.

SLIDE 3:

Shows the LMS settings I have set.

SLIDE 4:

Shows the screen I get after saving and publishing the whole file.  This also happens for each above-mentioned scene EXCEPT for the first one in the series (A02).  I can remove all the other scenes and just run with A02 and the End of Course tally slide and it will work.  Initially I thought the type of question was an issue, but A02 only contains True False questions, but so does B02 and B02 won’t load by itself either.  All other scenes contain 1 multiple selection, True False, and multiple-choice questions. .

SLIDE 5:

Shows that the Knowledge Check setting is now set to Combined.  I am presuming this is because of the Final Assessment Combination Slide?

Hi Nina, I'm interested to know if the module runs ok if you publish to review360 or run locally. It will help determine if this is and LMS/SCORM related issue.

Also, when you try and launch the course in the LMS and it fails to load, hit F12 on your keyboard and check the console for errors.

One final check. If it works locally and on R360, I would then try on cloud.scorm.com, a free SCORM testing service. It's a great benchmark tool to use to determine if your SCORM file has any issues.

Hi Sam!

You and I had the same thoughts and I did do all of the above.  Because of the time issue, I ended up reaching out to the Articulate Help Desk who quickly identified the issue.  As I am new to Storyline, I set the Include In Shuffle setting from Random to Never, because I did not want the questions to be in a different order than their slide order.  The result was that when the course launched it knew it had quizzes, but blew up when it didn't find any questions in the rotation cycle.  Rookie error, for sure...  Once I switched all the questions back to Random and then relaunched, it worked!!

Sam, thank you so much for replying to my call of help!
