508 Compliance and SL2

Mar 04, 2016

Does anyone know if it is possible to make the text for Closed Caption move automatically?  From the research I have done and the people I have spoken to it seems impossible.  If anyone knows how I would love to learn.  We are all a pretty stumped!

There isn't a built in closed captioning tool in SL2, unless you want to count the "Notes" tab that can be turned on.  Alt text is also supported.

If you search these forums you'll find numerous examples of building closed captioned functionality.  Because it's storyline you can literally build it just about any way you want.

Unfortunately, however, it is functionality that must be intentionally built into your project depending on how you want it to look and work, and will add to your workflow and development.

Here are some support articles that explain Articulate's 508 support - https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/c/?term=508

Here are a couple of threads that may help -

Hope this helps!

Hi, Tinkinia -- Looks like Brian has provided you with some stellar information here -- thanks so much, Brian! :)

I thought I might also share the following general resources on Section 508 Accessibility:

And here is another resource on 3 Ways to Boost E-Learning Accessibility with Closed Captions

Hope that helps and if you'd like to share your ideas for functionality you'd like to see in the future with our Product Team, here is the form you would need! :)
