Accessible Progress Bar

Dec 20, 2018

I've built a progress bar where the state of an object changes when learners complete a section.  It's only visual, so it's not accessible to those who can't see it.  Is there a way to make the alt text change with the state?  Or to add audio to a state?  Then, when they tab to it, it says either "complete" or "incomplete" based on the state (or on the same variable that changes the state)?

Hi Jean,

You have the right idea! You can add alt-text to an object's states. Here's how:

  • Select the object on the slide, and click Edit States.
  • With the Normal state selected, right-click the object on the slide and select Accessibility
  • Add alt text to the alternate text field.
  • Do the same step with the Complete state.

Here's a quick video of those steps in action!
