I would like to have the participant in the e-learning enter their name and have the text to speech say their name. I have done some quick searches and found a couple of responses to similar questions from four years ago that this is not available. I am wondering if that is still the case.
When you use text to speech, SL converts the speech to an audio file, and inserts the audio file into the course. When someone accesses the course, they download all the associated files, including the audio files, so it seems very unlikely to me that this will ever happen. It would require real time conversion every time the audio is played, and I'm not sure developers would put up with that much delay.
