Adding a graphic to a screen recording...and getting it to stay in sync on playback

Mar 13, 2019

Hello! I'm building a series of software simulation modules. Each module starts with a set of 'show me' slides using the Video on a single slide recording option. I want to add various highlight features and in-video captions on the screen and that's done easily enough. I also want to add the video control timebar so folks can replay certain sections if they'd like - again easily done in the video option tab. However, on publishing, if the learner does drag the timebar then the timing of these graphics falls out of sync. Have a looksee at the attached to see what I mean - watch the brief example video through first and then mess with the timebar to see how the graphics can fall out of sync.

I can see that this happens as the timeline for the graphics marches on irrespective of the video timeline which the learner can move at will. So...is there a way to sync the graphics so that moving the timebar doesn't put the two out of sync. I realise that adding highlight graphics can be achieved by creating the video as a Step-by-step option but I think that's really messy with all the extra slides and I can't see how to format the size of the playback screen and the background layout when these slides are produced.

Thank you

Thanks for the speedy response Alyssa. That's great - yes, it'll work but I'll need to adapt the course.

Currently the course has these videos along with explanatory static shots embedded in layers. I understand that showing/hiding the playbar can only be applied at a slide level.  As I don't want the base layer or the static layers to be burdened with an unnecessary seekbar, I can achieve this by splitting out the layers into separate slides and popping these into their own scene. If there was the ability to hide the playbar at the layer level that'd be ideal but I can see that this isn't currently a feature. Cheers!
