Again issues with SABA Cloud and Storyline 2 - Completion status

Sep 18, 2015

Hello all,

Probably have already heard this a lot  :s

We just upgraded to Storyline 2 and are now uploading some scorm 1.2 elearning modules into SABA CLOUD.

In the scorm files we set up tracking as: 'Complete/Incomplete' and use the 'number of slides viewed' to decide this. Of course there are quizzes (standard/free form) throughout the module.

This happens:

1. User access course and exits mid-way and Saba will show the course as  'Completed'  but then by opening the detailed Result info tab the LMS will show the course as Failed. Obviously the course is not really complete but is marked as such in the Learners' records.

2. Bookmarking behaves weirdly, when the learner access the course again it does not start on the same page, starts few slides before or after.

I have seen few posts about about amending the SCORMFunctions.js file, removing the mastery score from the manifest, etc.

But now is getting very confusing to identify what is really working and was not.

This happens to every single course we publish.

Have any of you faced a similar issue when using Storyline 2 and SABA cloud?

BTW. (1) cannot be replicated on SCORM Cloud but (2) behaviour is also present in SCORM Cloud.

Any advice would be helpful.

Many thanks,

Hi Carmen,

As for the 1 behavior, if it works in SCORM Cloud, then I'd have to defer to your LMS team or the community to weigh in further. As for 2, if it's resuming inconsistently in SCORM Cloud and your LMS, we would be happy to take a look. You mentioned it is sometimes slides before or after where you left off, so I suspect you're not hitting the resume data limit as that would likely stop you at the same spot each time once you reached that point.

Hi Carmen,

The exit trigger is known to have some difficulty, as detailed here. But the resume behavior is working normally when you close the course in SCORM Cloud with the exit trigger or the browser close?  In some cases, an Exit course trigger will send a score of 0% to a learning management system (LMS) when you're tracking the course by the number of slides viewed. (A score should only be sent to the LMS when you're tracking a quiz.)

We're investigating this issue. In the meantime, you can avoid this behavior by closing the browser window when you're finished rather than using an Exit course trigger.
