Animated gifs in course
May 29, 2014
I have an animated gif in my course that is supposed to repeat 5 times. It stops after 5 times outside the course, but once I put it in the course and preview it, it repeats forever. How do I get it to stop?
I also have 2 buttons on the page that go to layers on that slide. When I go to the other layers and then come back to the main slide, the buttons 'blink' and won't work to go to the layers again. Is the gif screwing it up or is there a trigger I need to create?
Thanks!
Stacey

I think it's the GIFs, Storyline will repeat GIFs forever no matter how many loops it was set for. I don't know if its causing problems between the layers. I usually don't use GIFs, I usually convert the GIF to a SWF animation.
Thanks! What do you use to convert the gif to a swf?
I import the gif into Flash
SWF animation makes the same thing in one of my projects. Maybe I did something wrong with it. I usually use gif and when I need it to stop, I arrange it on time line and after then I use the png format of my gif. I was able solve te problem by this way. If you didn't create the gif which you want to use, open it wit Photoshop and save the last layer.
Button problem, I think you should check the slide properties. If you change 'When revisiting Reset the initial state', itcan solve the problem, I hope
For the SWF animation, you have to put a Stop() command in the last frame. Then you can extend the clip to however far you want and it will stay on the last frame.
Stopping it on the timeline and adding the png at the end worked perfectly. Thank you!
It looks like the blinking buttons have something to do with the button set. When I remove the set, don't blink. However, after clicking them twice, the disappear. The buttons are to go to layers within the slide. When I return to the main slide, they are in their selected state, but when I click on them a 2nd time, they disappear. What am I doing wrong?
