Answer Options disappear when slide is "Reset to initial state"

Nov 02, 2013

Hi,

I am working on a course which is finally going to be on LMS and in HTML 5 output.

I am facing an issue with the quiz templates created in storyline.

This is not a question bank, its a single template (MCQ and MMCQ each)

I am re-using these by creating a storyline template out of a .story file.

My answer options disappears if I click Submit without selecting any of the options.

This is happening when I set the property of quiz slide to "Reset to initial state" for revisiting option.

This is not happening when I keep the setting on "Automatically decide" or "Resume saved state."

This sometimes happen when I go back and forth and come back to this screen and try to select the answer options and again deselect them and hit Submit.

I am using player Submit button and not customizing it.

Please help me with the solution if any one has faced such issue in the past.

All the comments, observations and any tiny help is appreciated.

Thanks

Girish

Hi Leslie,

Thanks for your response and help.

I would like to confirm one thing and then will send my query to support team if required.

This specific issue I am facing, when I view the course by clicking story_html5.html

It may not happen only by clicking the Submit button once, sometimes it requires 4 clicks.

You can reproduce the issue by following these steps:

  1. click on the story_html5.html
  2. go to first question
  3. select the answer options
  4. deselect them and hit Submit
  5. once again select the answer options
  6. deselect them and hit submit
All the answer options will disappear.

Did you check it clicking on story_html5.html file?

As per the instructions on the link provided, The link which is supposed to be shared with user is story.html.

Which i understand is a flash output link. (correct me if I am wrong.)

This particular issue is not happening with flash output.

Please let m know if my understanding is correct.

Girish

Hi Girish! Yes, I was looking at the right file, just not taking the appropriate steps to re-create so thank you for the instructions you provided here.

So, in your initial post, you had it absolutely right.

The issue is the use of the "reset to initial state" option in combination with using the jump to slide trigger going to the same slide.

This issue has been reported to our Quality Assurance team. I cannot determine when a fix will be available for this issue so for now I would recommend using the "automatically decide" when revisiting property to avoid the reported issue.

I will also add this thread to the report so that they can reference your file if need be.

As to your other question, yes you link to the story.html file in the published output. You can read more about how that gets distributed here.
