We are developing our course in Articulate Storyline#2 which will be hosted on Moodle 2.8.5. Many of our future users would like to access the course through their handheld android devices.
However, After going through some forums i came to know that articulate's products are not optimized for android devices.
Can somebody please let me know if that is the case? Highly appreciate the help.
The problem really is that there is no such thing as a single/common Android device so it's nearly impossible to say how well Storyline will work on all Android devices.
Only about 40% of Android devices are on the current version of Android, KitKat 4.4. (Compare this with nearly 80% of iOS devices are on the latest iOS8.) This makes it very difficult to say that any Android app will work on all Android devices. There are also things like screen size and aspect ratio that can vary greatly on Android.
I think Articulate has done a great job of getting content to run on a large variety of Android devices but because of the above the user experience is less predictable.
As Phil and Brett mentioned, Storyline 2 does support Android devices as well as iOS devices. You can see the different OS and browsers supported for each here:
I don't know if there has been discussion regarding an app for phones, but you should be able to utilize the HTML5 output and access it on your phone using the Chrome browser.
I have downloaded the App on the phone but have run into issues with screen size, link execution, opening new content, LMS interface (open contnent errors) and other assorted issues.
For the record.... I experimented by using a trial SL2 ver 6 published output on an my old Samsung GT-I8160 with android ver 2.3.6 (gosh) and it actually works fine. I am amazed :)
Cool to know Philip - just keep in mind that the supported set ups for Android and Storyline 2 are detailed here, so if something doesn't work as expected check in one of those environments.
Tom, I am having the same issues, I've published in both LMS and WEB. I tried to put the output folder on the SD card and play the training from there, with no luck. I've tried using the html5 and the regular story.html
I would really like to use the Articulate app, but when I click on the applaunch.html file it opens the app and gives me an error.
So I bit the bullet and put it on our sharepoint site. I had to change the .html to .aspx for it to load for me.
Here's my question, can I make it load in the Articulate app via the SD card. Id like to avoid our sharepoint site as it has numerous logins that make it a pain in the butt

Adobe Flash Player 10.3 or later, and one of the following browsers:
When will there be a version optimized for phones. The App takes away a lot of real estate from the screen and links will not execute on Galaxy S5.
Hi Tom,

You're welcome to share your thoughts on a app specific to the phone in the form of a feature request here.
Many Many Thanks Phill, Brett and Ashley!!!
Your inputs are very much helpful.
