Articulate Storyline Translation feature not translating properly.

Apr 03, 2015

Hi:

I am trying to use Storyline's translation (Export & Import) feature to create a lesson in one of the non-western languages (into Telugu, an Indian language to be precise). I am able to translate the appropriate column in the .doc file and importing back into Storyline. When I look at it in the design mode, things look fine. So far so good. But the moment I try to preview or build, the fonts are getting messed up. I do not understand why they get displayed correctly before previewing but not after! Can an one with similar experience help me out? I saw someone complaining about a similar thing for Chinese or Japanese characters, but it was a long time ago. Some one suggested that they use build 3 and things would be fine. But I am now using Build 8. If anyone has a solution/clue I would be grateful. I am attaching two pics here.(the one on the left is how it should be! and the one on the right is either in the preview or build mode and the fonts are messed up. BTW I do have the necessary fonts installed (Gautami).

Thanks in advance.

Hi Emily:

Thanks for the quick response. Could you please elaborate what you did in the quick test. I did try 2-3 different fonts and I am getting the same problem. which specific font did you use in the quick test and which specific word did you translate? The reason I am asking is because, I think some simple words (mono syllable types) may not have a problem. Also you mentioned in your reply that the preview and the publish look the same. Yes they do in my case as well. But they differ from what I see in the design window (working window or compose window whatever we call it.). Unfortunately, the one seen in preview and publish is wrong and the one in design window shows up correctly.
