Articulate 3 won't open - stuck on "initializing components"

Has this ever happened to anyone?  The program looks like it's going to open, but doesn't. It looks like the program is going to open, but it doesn't go any further than the opening portion and that says on "initializing components." I have not had this happen before. I recently did an update, so not sure if that is the issue.
