Audio on Base Layer

Feb 12, 2018

I have a base layer with audio on it and 3 layers with no audio.  I have the slide properties set to when revisiting "Resume saved state".  If I listen to all the audio on the base layer then go to a layer when I go back to the base layer the audio starts in the middle and says "The legislative branch" and ends.  I've attached the slide.

Hi Brandy,

I didn't have that issue when I previewed the slide, both within Storyline and in Review. Right now, you have the layers set to hide content on the base layer, which in effect pauses the base layer audio if they open a layer before the base audio is complete. You could add a 99% transparent rectangle on top of the buttons if you wanted to wait until the audio was complete before the learners could click, but it's not necessary.

As for the button/layer functionality, I did want to show you an easier way to set that up. You can use the built-in state of Visited to control icons so you don't need to track progress in variables. You can also use the "hide layer" trigger to close out of the layer rather than renavigating to the slide (which then takes the "Resume saved state" setting out of the picture). Take a look at my changes in the attached file- it should be much faster to program something like that in the future.

Cheers,

Allison
