Audio over playing
Jun 21, 2018
Hey all,
I have seen many discussions on how to fix this but I’m still not finding the right fix for what I’m doing. I have 3 buttons that show text and play audio (each have their own layer). I want the text to remain on the slide after clicking, even if you click a different button. Right now when I click on the button, the base layer audio pauses because I clicked the setting to do that, but if I click another button before the audio finishes the audio will overlap. I want the previous pressed button’s text to remain on the screen, but want the audio to stop and the new button’s audio to play when clicked. I know hiding layers will prevent audio over lap from button to button, but I want the text to remain on the screen after clicking each button and not have each audio play at the same time. Does his make sense and can someone help?

You could put the text in a visited state. That way when they click the button the visited state will always be active. Then, add a trigger to a layer with the audio.
Would the visited text be on the separate layer or the base layer?
Here's a quick tutorial
I’ll have to try it out. Appreciate the help!
That fix helped and I’m using it other places now, thanks again. Do you happen to know why in seems to “blink” from slide to slide in preview? I’m not sure if it’s just my computer because it does it at random times and not always at the same time.
Not sure. Could just be a lag or the cache
Thanks, I’ve used other authoring tools but not storyline in a while so still trying to get comfortable with it.
Hi Joel,
It sounds like your slides aren't transitioning smoothly. Since the problem seems random and doesn't always happen on the same slides, this could be a tough one to nail down!
First, could you tell me what version of Storyline you're using? You can check by going to the Help tab, then clicking About Storyline.
Hi, Joel! Super neat to hear that the visited text suggestion helped you out 🌟
I agree with Alyssa! We can appreciate that it's frustrating when odd behavior happens at random times, so let us know if you run into any blinking again!
We're standing by for the version – and if we can find a trend, that will help us nail down what’s going on there!
