back to SL from a pdf : no close button

Jan 08, 2014

hello,

I made a course with links to pdf documents.

The course is set to display in a new windows without browser control (client request) and the links are set to open in a new windows in 800x600 (not in fullscreen)

I send it to my client and they publish it on their LMS.

They repported me an issue with the pdf. They can open them without any problem but, the documents are in fullscreen and there is no browser control so they can't close the windows to return to the course.

They use ie6.

Some people on this forum seems to have the same issue but i founded no answer.

Does somebody know where the problem come from ? And how to resolve it ?

i join a capture of my links settings :

Hi Anthony,

Even if the course doesn't have the browser controls enabled, you should still be able to have the "X" button in the top right hand corner to close the window, as in the image below:

You mentioned a capture of your settings, but i didn't see any files or images in your post. Could you share an image of how this looks when they open the PDF in front of the course window?  Additionally, if it's opening full screen and blocking out the Storyline window, you may want to offer a reminder to users that they can toggle between open windows by using the Alt+ Tab functionality of Windows.

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the screen shots. It's difficult to see that the PDF is opening in a browser at all, as it looks to be opening in Adobe? I tested my own pdf's and using Google Chrome and IE10, but opened as expected and looked identical to the image shared previously.  Where are you viewing your published course (i.e. what browser? from an LMS or web server?)? Are you able to share the .story file with us here?  If you can't share here in the in the forums you could also share it privately here or send me a private message with a link to download the .story file.
