A blank strip has appeared on the top of one of my slides - a menu (see attachment) - it isn't in the preview, and I can see no reason for it - any ideas?

I published the slide you showed in your first image and do not see the issue you are reporting. Do you see the same issue with the published output here?
If so, please share what browser you are using so I can take another look.
If not, perhaps republishing the course will alleviate the issue for you as well :)
Now I have seen it! This happened because I had no buttons on the slide
which changes the size of the player window. By adding a button and
disabling it I solved the problem. Still, a work around rather than a
solution!
