Best way to play multiple videos in sequence from the one slide in storyline

Mar 11, 2017

Hi

I'm totally new with Storyline.  I have a slide which has fly in paragraphs that explain a point and then click on the button to play a video (there are 3 paragraphs and 3 corresponding videos).  I've spent half hour searching answers on here but I cant see anything specifically telling me how to do this...

I tried insert web object and uploaded to private youtube channel but i get the full youtube screen with other videos in sidebar... I tried embedding the video but i got to the first video and then i couldnt get back to the original slide so they could then repeat the process... the video just sat on top of the slide.

I tried making a new slide to hold the video but then couldnt figure out how to get the button to link to it...

Like I said, I'm so new and this is probably really basic but some step by steps or links to articles that address the process would be so appreciated.

Hi Sharna

Welcome to ELH forum

You could place each video on a separate layer and then add

  • trigger on base layer to show layer 1 when video completes on base layer
  • trigger on layer 1 to show layer 2 when video completes on layer 1
  • layer 2 will have the final video

if this doesn't work for shout and help someone will try and help you.

Hi Wendy
Thanks for your help! I'm wondering if I've made a simple task more
complex...
This is what I've got in my mind:

1. Slide opens with first paragraph fly in text then button for play
video 1
2. Next second paragraph flies in text then button for play video 2
3. Third paragraph flies in text then button for play video 3

Is this easy enough to do or should i just create 3 separate slides... one
for each video

Thanks again

Put each video on a separate layer, with the layer set to pause base layer, and a trigger to hide the layer when the media ends.

The base plays until the first paragraph shows, then a trigger pauses the base timeline and the button shows (or is showing when the paragraph enters). When the user clicks the button, it has two triggers: resume timeline and show layer 1 (in that order).

When layer 1 shows, it pauses base layer, video plays, layer hides and automatically restarts base timeline, which shows second paragraph -- and repeat.

Hi there,
Wondering if anyone would be able to help with something similar that we're trying to achieve? We have 4 videos to play but the problem we are encountering is that when the first video stopped (we placed a trigger to play the first layer for the second video) - the second video plays but the 1st video from the base layer is still on top of the second video. I can share the file if someone would be able to assist.

If you send it to me privately (which you can, if you wish), you are at the mercy of my schedule, which is pretty full tomorrow. If you attach it here, you are likely to get help from a vast crowd of people, many of whom may be instantly available.

If there is a content concern, import just that slide into a new project and strip out the proprietary information. You can even use dummy videos.
