Branching Quiz with single results submission to LMS - possible?

Oct 02, 2014

Hi guys... Im relatively new to Articulate and have just created my first ransomised question banks, however I need to make these business area specific and report the results back to our LMS. I cant find anything specific in the tutorials so would love some help please.

The course I'm building is being used by two different business areas in my organistaion. Ive catered for the different information by creating a variable at the start of the course directs the learner to their business units slides within each section of the course.

I now need to so the same with the test. I've created three test sections. One section contains the welcome page and results page. The welcome page branches to the correct business unit test based on the varaibale. Ive then added two sections using the draw form bank options. These have a completed page which branches back to the results page. This doesn't seem to be working properly.

Please could you advise if this is a good approach and if not what you would recommend.

Regards.

Carolyn.

Hi Carolyn,

I think your best bet is to create a new variable for the final score (e.g. "FinalScore"), then (after the test) set its value to be equal to the sum of the variables for each test's results (they'll be something along the lines of Results.ScorePercent).
After that, you'll need to find a way to send that variable to the LMS. I think that may involve Javascript, but your LMS administrator or infrastructure people could help with that.

Another option (without any fancy coding) would be to set the results slide up to score for both test banks, then (since the learners are only answering one test bank), set the passing grade to half of what it would have been (because they're only answering half the questions). So if a learner needs to correctly answer 80% of the questions to pass, then you'd set the passing grade to 40%. To make this work, you'll want to adjust the results screen to show a different score (e.g. a variable that's double their calculated score). This option will look odd if your LMS is storing scores instead of just pass/fail.

Cheers,
Simon
