Browser Resize Killing My Layout

Sep 25, 2020

Hello!

I have been trying to use the automatic menu and navigation available in the Modern Player option - starting with the menu collapsed.

When I use the Preview option in the player, everything is nice, tight, fitted and pretty. Navigation options are close to the actual content - it's great. (see pic 2). And, the course section shrinks when the menu is open. (see pic 3).

When I Preview or Publish the actual file however, I get a stretched out version where the navigation has to use a telescope to look at the actual content (see pic 1).

I know this has to do with browser sizing. When I manually resize my browser the navigation scootches in. That's great. But I don't want the learner to have to resize for that option. I've played around with the "Allow User to Resize Browser" and "Resize Browser to the Optimal Size" options in a few different combinations - It doesn't seem to make a difference.

The only thing that worked was to make my design 3000px across! If that's the way it needs to be, okay, but....

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Good day Jaime,

Hope everything is well. As it appears, the preview option in the player is only focused on showing how the Player looks like but doesn't meant to show how the actual slide will behave, it's still better to follow the Preview feature for the entire slide.

Regarding your concern, this seems to be an expected behavior because the overall size of your published course will be slightly larger than your slide dimensions. That's because the player (the frame around your slides) adds some width and height to the course. To see how Player Features affect the Published size please check this link.

You're using modern player and when I tried to turn off the Menus and controls the result you would like to get is achieved. Here’s an example: Let’s say your slide size is 720 x 405, and you enable the navigation buttons and sidebar. The overall dimensions of your published course are 980 x 476. (This is also known as the optimal size of your course.)

All this information is outlined in the link above. I hope everything is cleared. Have a good one!
