The only built-in variables I know of are the quiz-related ones that are displayed on a results screen, and they are read-only. I do agree, it would be nice if more variables would be accessible.
Can we change the build in variables of Menu i.e "menu.slidesViewed". We are using player menu in our course which is restricted. Once assessment is failed course will be revisited but this time menu should be restricted again. Can we achieve it?
The menu.slidesViewed variable will display the number of slides the learner has viewed so far. You can insert this variable on the slide using the new Slide Numbers feature.
It sounds like you want to restrict the menu again after the learner has failed the course. To do that, add a button to the result slide with a trigger to "Restart course when the user clicks the button." This trigger will bring the learner back to the first slide and reset the menu back to restricted.

I am guessing these will be socialised once the SDK becomes available
Any word on the mythical SDK?

Let me know if that's what you had in mind!
