Can I make shape appear before text?

Jul 17, 2019

Greetings. I have what I think is a relatively simple "newbie" question, but I can't seem to figure it out. I am using animation to have individual lines of text appear in a shape (Rectangle 1); after i add audio, I will sync the appearance of each of the text lines to it.

What I am wondering is if it is possible to have the rectangle appear first (ideally, it would be visible when the slide begins) and then have each text item enter later. Right now, it appears that SL connects the shape and the first line of text together as one object, only allowing them to appear at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, Wendy.

Your solution does work, so I appreciate it. I was just hoping for something not so complicated.

In PowerPoint's (which is what I normally work with) animation pane, the shape is treated as a separate object, so it is not necessary to create a separate (text) box, align it with the original shape, etc.
