I have some checkboxes that I am using to show layers with a numeric data entry box in each. The trigger to show the layer with the data entry works when changing the state of the checkbox to Selected; however, when I do the similar function of hiding the layer when the checkbox state changes to Normal, the layer with the data entry box still shows. It seems to be the data entry box that is throwing off hiding the layer. How do I get this to work?
Hi Laurel, normal is a special state and most states are classed as normal. A visited state will often also read a normal as will a selected state. I would try doing not equal to selected instead.
For a Storyline checkbox button, the standard states are Normal, Hover, Down, Disabled and Selected. I've removed Disabled because it doesn't apply, so I'm just trying to use the "Normal" state for the checkbox button. If I use "is not Selected," wouldn't that also apply to the Hover and Down states?
OK, so I test using a checkbox to show/hide a layer with just an image in it. Hiding the layer works when the state of the checkbox is "not Selected." So, I applied this same thing to my layer with the data entry and it still SHOWS the data entry box, whether or not I have entered anything in it. It looks like the data entry box is what's keeping the layer from being hidden.
I don't know what I did wrong in the previous post, but the state of the checkbox has to be set to "not Selected" in order to hide the layer with the data entry box. When it didn't work at first (user error), I thought it was because the data entry box doesn't have states and couldn't be hidden or something. All fixed now and I'm hiding my head in the dorkus box.

No shame, you made me fire up Storyline to check that it was possible
