can't get 2nd layer to show upon "user clicks outside"

Feb 15, 2017

I've been trying for hours to get the "answer" (2nd layer) to show after the user clicks in the wrong place twice (the first time shows layer "try again"). All I get is the "Try Again" layer, then a resultless click, then the Try Again one again. I've attached 2 slides -- one with a ton of ways to make that Answer layer show up, and one with the original attempt that has only one way to make it show up. What else can I do??! Thanks.

FYI - there is a 100% transparent rectangle on the Try Again layer in the complicated slide. Just in case it's not obvious.

Thanks. I deleted the unused videos, but it's still 40MB. I don't know
if there are other hidden files that aren't being used (like audio
files). The original file, with several live captures (not
screenshots, but screencasts) is less than 3x as big.

One question: if you take a project and make it 50% as big, does it
reduce the file size also? This used to be a bigger project screen
size. Maybe that's why it's so large. Don't know why else it would be.

Thanks.

Hi Kristin

if you create a project file and save it with name...projectA > make edits then do a save as instead of just save it seems to bloat the size of the file.  Someone I worked with the other day had a file size of 862MB and when we created a new file and imported the slides in it was 7MB - unbelievable difference.

Anyway - looks like you've uploaded the same 119MB file again.

Hi Kristin

I only worked on the first slide but I changed how it works by not using layers, but putting the try again OOPs text box and the answer Text boxes all on the base layer and added a variable 'attempts' to use in triggers.

Other folk may chime in with a better way to do it.

Ok - first thing I see, you are using the same variable attempts for all slides. Variables are global for the project but once triggered if you want to reuse them on one or more slides you'd need to reset them OR have a different variable.

Two choices

  1. create one for each slide OR
  2. add a reset variable trigger at the timeline start of each slide after the first one

Option 1 - you would substitute attempts_q2 on slide 2 and attempts_q3 on slide 3 in the triggers where the variable is used.

\

Option 2 - create a trigger (first in the order list) that will reset the variable back to 0 ready to be used on slide 2 and same trigger on slide 3.
