Can't insert a textbox

Insert Text Box = Software Crash
By Charlotte Culliver
Hi, I am trying to build a business case for my manager to seriously consider purchasing Articulate Storyline.

Problem is despite running a 64-bit win 8 highly spec'd dev machine, Storyline just keeps crashing everytime I go to insert a text box.

When I'm attempting to insert a textbox.  I choose the Insert Textbox option from the menu bar.

Then when I release my mouse, this appears. The program will freeze for a while. Then the text box disappears when the program unfreezes itself. I've tried inserting characters, captions, and shapes. This only happens when I insert text boxes...

When I attempt to create a textbox via Ctrl + t, it appears memory seems to be running low, storyline puts a great big red cross across the slide and then prompts me to save and close the application.

Is this a known issue?  I've reinstalled the application at least 5 times over the last couple of days but no success on correcting this issue.

Please advise.  Also, I have submitted a ticket on this issue...Case # 00450604 ‏
Thank you,

Hi Charlotte,

From that image, it looks like Storyline 1 - have you download the trial for Storyline 2?

I can't get the same behavior to happen in my testing of SL1 or SL2, so I'd also want to confirm that you're working on local project files as described here and working with a DPI setting of 96. I know you mentioned reinstalling - but have you done the repair?

Hi There Ashley,

Thank you for your reply. I did download the application from the link you included.

Yes, I've done the repair of the installation.

The DPI setting of 96 makes it virtually impossible for me to distinguish any of the menu options...as it drastically shrinks the menu bar from already very difficult size to view.

Thank you for any additional assistance you can offer on my behalf.

Kind Regards,

charlotte

Hi Charlotte,

Using a different DPI setting can cause odd behavior, so I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue with the text boxes. In regards to the overall small size, I've heard that from other users who are on high resolution displays, such as a retina display. Currently we'd want to have you share your thoughts in the form of a feature request here.
