Can't Open File--Get Error Message

I tried opening the file I saved yesterday.  The error message says:  "The file is being used by another process or you do not have the proper security permission."  I'm the only one using this software.  I've tried rebooting and shutting down my computer but nothing works.  Help!

Hi Teresa, and welcome to Heroes! 

Did you happen to have Storyline open in the background while trying to open this file? 

Also, you may want to make sure all of your project files are on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior. 
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

If you're still having difficulty, you may want to conduct a simple repair of Storyline.
