Can you have a "Resume Save State" on auto-advance slides?

Feb 20, 2018

Hello,

I am trying to configure auto-advance slides that hide the "Next" player button throughout the initial viewing of the slides, but reappear if the user needs to go back and review. I am finding that I am not able to produce this effect, and feel this is due to the auto-advance feature not allowing a full "stop"/save to complete each slide and show the "Normal" "Next" button once the timeline ends. Am I out of luck or is there any solution? I am using Storyline 2. Thank you!

Hi Shauna, you unfortunately can’t do this in a straight forward way.  The next button in the player is either set to show or be hidden, and you can’t change this - ie show / hide the player next button part way through the slide timeline or under trigger conditions.

Whilst you can’t hide / show the next player button, one thing you can do is have the Next button showing but disabled, until a triggered condition is met.

In your case though the only way to achieve this exactly would be to point to a duplicated version of your auto advance slide, where the Next player is set to show, but with the Next pointing back to the really next slide.

This could get messy though.

Cheers Christine
