Cannot switch to modern player

would anyone know why I can't access the modern player?  Here is what my play options look like.  There is no "appearance" section where the option should be... (see screenshot).  I am presently using a free trial version - could this be the reason?

Hi Niki,

It looks like you're using Storyline 360 with that logo in the top left corner, but you're not seeing the correct player setup. Could you check what update of Storyline 360 you're using? 

Storyline 360, build 3.25.18009.0 is the latest update and you can confirm what you're using by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline".

which version of SL are you running. The modern player is only available in SL360 and was introduced in May 22, 2018 (Build 3.16.15842.0)

SL 360 latest version is Build 3.25.18088.0

SL 3 latest version is Build 3.6.18134.0
