Change Wording Of: You must complete the question before submitting

Aug 01, 2017

Hi there,

I have seen posts about how to create a NEW message to replace the aesthetics, look, and feel of this message that appears when the user does NOT select an answer and clicks Submit. Great discussion and good to know!

It's clear how to create a new layer, and make conditions to show this new layer.

However, I'm fine with leaving the current look n feel of this message, but I'd simply like to change the wording of this. Where is this located??

Thanks!

Hello! I know this is an older thread, but I hope i'm not in too much of a pickle.

I have a storyline file with 2 scenes (that contain quizzes), however one is in English and the other Spanish. How do I translate the "invalid answer" box into Spanish?

It would make sense for this to be in the feedback layer, that way i could edit or at least make a separate one and link it to spanish. But since its in the Player Text Labels If i change it there, it will effect the English feedback layer also.

I don't have the option to separate the languages into different files. If I can't make 2 separate "must submit" boxes, can i delete it?

I'm thinking worst case is i'd have to create variables for every question and trigger a custom layer to appear :/

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions in advance!

Hi Erin!

You're right that the text for the "Invalid Answer" message can be edited in the Player Text Labels. However, since you need both English and Spanish, I would leave the text in English.

Then, for the Spanish portion, create a custom "Invalid Answer" message using this method. The tutorial is for Storyline 1, but the method works great for all versions of Storyline.

Let me know if that will work for you!
