Changing properties of shapes with variables

I'd like to be able to create a diagram in Storyline that gives a graphical representation of answers a student has submitted during a simple quiz.

To do this I'm thinking of recording variables from answers given in the test and using those variables to inform shape coordinates.

I was wondering if anyone had done anything similar - see image for an explanation of what I mean.
