Changing state of a button

Hi gurus

i am working on a course and have compulsory text fields.  I'd like the submit button to be disabled until the user has entered text, then they can press submit.
I've already got the triggers sorted so that submit will not activate until they have entered the text, but just wanted a visual sign that submit was then active.
