Changing States on Mouse Over

Oct 01, 2012

Hello,

I read some past posts on a similar issue, but the discussion doesn't seem to adress my particular issue.  I have two text boxes and a button on a frame.  The initial state of "Text Box A" is normal.  The initial state of "Text Box B" is hidden.  I created 2 triggers with a mouse over of the button.  Trigger one changes Box A to become hidden.  Trigger two changes Box B to normal.  I have them both set to restore on mouse leave.  When the mouse leaves the button, Box B disappears (as desired).  However, Box A does not reappear.  Can anyone explain how to have Box A reappear in the situation I described?  Fundamentally, I want the two boxes to toggle with the mouse over.

Thanks,

Mike

Good Afternoon, Mike.

In your situation, since the trigger is hiding the button, the button can no longer receive trigger commands.  This may or may not be desirable behavior, and the Articulate Quality Assurance Team has it on their radar to evaluate this functionality.

Phil's solution is perfect.  Some others as well:

  1. Create a custom state and set the properties of the button to 'No button fill', 'No button border' and 'No shadow' just to make the button appear hidden.  Then, use the custom state in your trigger instead.
  2. Place a shape over top of the button and remove the shape outline and fill. Then apply the triggers to the (invisible) shape to change the state of the button.

Please let us know if you need anything else.  Thanks!
