Changing states using variables

Hi,
I am looking to change the state of pictures on a slide on the original scene which navigate to separate scenes. The idea is that the image changes once the user has completed the scene. I figured I would only need to set a trigger to add to the variable on the next button and then triggers on the home slide to change the state of the image based on a variable change but it doesn't seem to work when I preview. Any ideas? below are some screenshots of the triggers & variables I have set.
Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed! Would you be able to share your .story file so that we could take a look and understand this a bit better?
Try changing the slide triggers to something like:
Change state of Picture 3 to Complete when the timeline starts if Angercomplete is not equal to 0.
I have attached a shell version of the problem, not allowed to share content as of yet! Hopefully this should demonstrate the problem though! I also seem to be having problems with the submit for the quiz too so any ideas on that would be great!
Thanks! I will definitely give that a go later, I have a feeling that I tried this earlier but got in quite a muddle!
Hello Ed
Michaels suggestion is probably the ticket. If you tried it and did not work, chances are, you were timing the wrong object. The trigger event should be "when the time line starts" - the object should be the slide... Under the condition that the variable equals 1, for example. "When the variable changes" trigger event can be tricky. Time line starts is bomber. I just opened your file and was able to change the state following those steps. Also, There was something a little wonky with your question slide. So I had to remove the free form and then convert it back to free form for the question feedback layers to appesr.
Perfect, it worked! Thanks to everyone for the help :)
Thanks Ed for sharing your content and sorry we didn't get to it yesterday. It looks like Michael and Ron have you covered here with the same thoughts!
