Changing the state of a text box to custom states isn't working

Jul 09, 2019

Hello,

I am using Storyline 360 (v3.29.19305.0) and changing the state of a text box to a custom state via triggers is not working. My triggers are "Change state of Text Box" to "<state>" When "timeline reaches cue point x". This seems like something I should be able to do easily, but I haven't had any luck.

  • I don't have any other slide triggers, so the trigger order seems correct.
  • I've tried to trigger the Text Box to the default "Normal" state when the timeline starts, but that doesn't appear to do anything (I'm assuming because of trigger order).
  • Ideally, I need the next box to appear at a certain point (before Cue point 1), but after the timeline starts. I have tried to move the Text Box to the beginning of the timeline to see if that changes the behavior, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks for help in advance!

Hi Chelsea,

I was able to recreate your text box with states, and it worked fine. There is something strange happening with the original text box. When I took away the initial fade animation, it actually would not show on the screen at all. I don't know if there is some corruption in that text box, or there is something else that eluded me. I suspect the latter, because when I simply copied your original text box, my copy had the same issue.

In any case, this one is working. I left the original, but offstage.
