I'm working on a project in which I need to have the user click on a simulated keyboard and have the text display. I created a data entry box and then created hotspots for each key. When the first key is pushed, the text displays as intended. The problem is that when the next key is pushed it overwrites the first entry. Basically I'm simulating a 4-character code that has to be entered from a panel. Any suggestions?
I recently saw an example where a user created a keyboard on the slide so that the user could click to enter those letters but I'm having a hard time finding it right now searching - so I'll keep looking but hopefully someone else remembers it and is able to chime in.
Also if you're able to share your .story file here we could take a look at that and weigh in.
Thanks for the reply. I hope you find the example. It sounds exactly like what I'm looking for.
I don't have a file I can share at this time. It's still pretty rough. It's a simulation of an aircraft cockpit and the user enters data (airport codes, waypoints, etc.) using what's called a multifunction controller. When the user types a code, such as KOAK, I need the individual letters to display. When the user hits enter, they will continue to the next task if the code is correct, or if incorrect, a caption will display telling them the code is wrong.
Everything works in my tests except for being able to enter multiple letters.
This is great! I'm pretty sure it will work. It will be difficult to set up (I'll need 36 hotkeys and corresponding code for each letter and numeral on the keypad), but it should display just as I hoped.
I was talking with a few other team members about this, and just to let you know we don't have concatenation (a word I regularly have to look up) but with that set up you'd need separate text fields for each letter.

Hi Patrick,
Here's what I've found so far, although I'm not sure it matches what you need is this keyboard example.
I'll try to reach out to a few others to see if they know of anything more.

Thanks again!
