Close captions error in Chrome

Oct 25, 2018

¡Hi! I have added close captions for a video using my own button with the trigger indicated in the learn section on this site (toggle variable Player.Displaycaptions). It works perfectly fine on firefox, but they don't appear when I launch my course in Chrome.

I have used the functionality Import close captions to import the .srt file.

I'm using Storyline 360.

My chrome version is  69.0.3497.100

Any ideas? Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks for reaching out to the community, Monica! ..and for joining us. 😊

We've identified an issue where subtitles disappear when viewing the published content in Chrome. Particularly when:

  • Using the Classic Player
  • Using Chrome
  • The browser window is maximized

Until we have a fix in place, you can work around the issue by locking the player at the optimal size or by switching to the Modern Player.

So sorry for the headaches, and I'll let you know as soon as the fix is ready!

Hey Monica. I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 21 for Storyline 360! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.

One of the fixes addresses an issue where closed captions sometimes disappeared in HTML5 when using the classic player.

Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of everything the latest release has to offer. Let me know how you make out!
