Conditional redirects for SCORMs

Feb 25, 2021

We have training presentations in many different languages created through a different tool. We post these presentations as SCORMs to our Moodle-based LMS. The tool includes a "conditional redirects" feature, whereby the presentation automatically redirects to the training based on the viewer's browser language (for example, if the user's browser language is set to Spanish, the Spanish version of the video will play). This means we only have to post one link (one SCORM) to our LMS, and not one link for the same training presentation in all the languages we support.

Does Storyline include anything like this? Feedback from students is that they find it chaotic and confusing when we show multiple links to the same training in multiple languages, so if we move to Storyline, we'd like to avoid this. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Unfortunately, the only option we currently have in the LMS is to restrict by geo-location. But that would mean that people who live in a country where the official language is not their preferred language would not get access (for example, if you speak Chinese and live in Vancouver, Canada, you would get access to the English version, not the Chinese version). Going by a user's browser language and using conditional redirects seems like an ideal solution.

There must be others out there that localize their Storyline presentations in different languages and upload as SCORMS to the LMS. How do you get around having multiple links in each language?
