Converting Engage interactions for mobile devices

Jun 25, 2015

Good morning! I am new here, and I just joined a company that used Articulate Studio '09 for their eLearning courses. The company wants me to convert the coursework made with Articulate '09 to Storyline 2, and we would like the coursework to be available on our company iPads. Since Engage '09 uses Flash, I am wondering what is the easiest way to duplicate these interactions in Storyline so they will work on mobile devices. Does anyone have tips for converting or rebuilding the Engage interactions into Storyline?

Thanks, everyone!

Hi Rachel,

Engage 09 doesn't support HTML5 output - so you won't be able to publish and place inside Storyline for HTML5 access. In terms of rebuilding the interactions in Storyline, you may want to share which interaction types you're using so that folks could offer ideas around it specifically.  There are some great Storyline templates here some of which are designed based on Engage interaction.

You may also want to look at Studio '13, which would allow you to import the Engage interactions into Storyline with HTML5 support.

Ashley-The main thing I am having issues with is recreating the Process Interactions from Engage to Storyline. I tried using the built-in template in Storyline 2, but I wasn't able to customize as many of the items as I wanted to. The company I work at is not looking at upgrading to Studio '13 in the near future.

Hi Rachel,

If you're just looking to do it as a one time thing for the items you've already built in Engage, you could look at using the Studio '13 trial and upgrade your files and then import into Storyline. This won't work for editing them going forward - but if its just to deal with the ones you have now - that may be a way around it. :-)
