Corrupt data Storyline 3

Jul 21, 2020

Hi,

Today I revised a previously published story and saved it onto my desktop. Later today i tried to open it again and received the following error multiple times: "This project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. It may have been created in an earlier version of Story line".

I have moved the file and tried multiple times to open it again. Same negative result.

I tried importing it to a new project and received a jumble of data thatIi attached to this discussion.

Can anyone help me recover my work?

Hi Raymond, you can try recovering your corrupted project by checking this article.

Recover a corrupted file

Additionally, if the above procedure did not work on your side. If your Auto Recovery setting is set up to save automatically every 10 minutes (by default). You can try to check the Temp Files related to the project and by following these steps below. Check Temp Files.

1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline.
2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project.
3. If you find the file, copy it to your desktop (if you find more than one, copy the latest version).
4. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
5. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

Hopefully, there is a working version of the file on that folder.
