corrupt file?

Jun 24, 2020

Hello,

I remember seeing a post for a corrupt file, that it could be restored somehow. However, I cannot find that post - can anyone guide me?

The file I have was last updated on 6/8, and didn't have any issues. Yesterday, I was having trouble saving it (with corrupt message). I tried all the updates today, but no luck.

Thanks in advance, Francis

Hi Francis,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a corrupt file message. While corruption is difficult to predict, I wanted to share some tips that I hope will help to try to reduce corruption:

In regards to the corrupt file, there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how you can check:

1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

I also wanted to share a video walkthrough for the steps above here.
