Could the Studio ’13 Update 1 have damaged Articulate Studio?

Nov 08, 2013

Yesterday when I opened PPT, I got a message that it wanted to update Studio 2013, so I did.  Then, when I started using Storyline, I started having all sorts of problems.  I get low memory warnings, problems using the screen previewer, PPT importer, and publisher to HTML.  I tried doing a repair on Storyline as an admin. I moved all my documents to my C drive. I uninstalled Storyline and reinstalled it.  I increased my virtual memory. The only thing that works is when I create a new presentation and import the slides from the last saved Storyline folder.  It then works for a while and then breaks again.

I did not need to do that update. If this continues, I am going to have real problems down the line when I start importing translations. This has been slowing me down considerably, please help. This is occurring with all the courses (5 so far). It seems to happen especially when I switch between titles.

Can someone help me? I tried submitting a ticket and only got one reply saying I had a corrupted logo.

Hi Joshua,

I looked into your case, and the logo issue is one that we're aware of impacting Storyline and it could have been coincidence that it showed up for you when updating your Studio 13. You also mentioned working on a shared drive, and our recommendation is to always work with local project files, as working on a network or USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. If the files have become corrupted, the best way to try and continue using them is by importing it into a new Storyline project that you save and work on from your local drive, although there are no guarantees that it will repair a corrupted file.

I see that you replied within your case to Miker as well, and if you continue to have difficulty with new files, please let us know and we can dig deeper into what is happening.

Hi Joshua,

Are you having problems with new files, or the files you moved over from your shared drive? As I mentioned above, if they became corrupted, they may continue to behave erratically when you work with them on your local drive. Please let us know next week if you're able to import them into a new Storyline file, or if new projects are continuing to have odd behavior.
