Course Not Publishing
Oct 18, 2013
I'm new to Storyline and created my first test course. When I try to publish to a CD or to the web, the course doesn't actually publish (no error message or anything - just no files result). I searched through the forums and followed the advice here and on another thread (can't locate this thread again), which offered the following advice:

Output Folder is Empty After Publishing for CD
You may find that the output folder is empty after publishing an Articulate
Storyline course for CD. This can occur if your security software
is configured to block autorun.inf files.
To correct this issue, add an exemption to your security software for the
Storyline executable (Storyline.exe). You may need to ask your IT staff
for assistance. Here's the file path for Storyline.exe, depending
on your version of Microsoft Windows:
- 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Articulate\Articulate Storyline\Storyline.exe
- 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Articulate\Articulate Storyline\Storyline.exe
IT has added the exemption above, and still no dice. Any advice?

Hi Rachel and welcome to Heroes,
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having publishing your first course, definitely not the way you want to begin! After your IT department added the exemption, were you able to publish to any other outputs (besides CD)? Can you confirm that your project files are located on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive)? Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior. If the files are local, you may want to try the steps outlined in this support article.
Also, if you'd like us to test publishing the file as well, you can share the .story file here or send along to us privately here.
Got it figured out. The course was publishing in a My Documents folder; however, this folder was backing up to network storage, which was throwing it off. Once I published to my desktop, it worked fine.
Thanks Rachel for the update and glad you got it working!
