I need to design an activity where learners first create a list of tasks and then they will put each task into one of four categories/buckets. That last part could be a drag-and-drop but would I use a text variable to create the list of tasks? Is something like that possible in Storyline?
What you describe would be fairly easy. You might:
1. Use a unique text variable for each entry you want and allow no more that that (you could allow fewer).
2. On the next page create a regular Drag and Drop with references to the variables as the text of the draggable shapes or text boxes. Allow multiple drops on each target, and select snap option with tile for the answers.
The more difficult part is the part you didn't describe. Depending on what you want to do with the data next, there is a wide variety of complexity.
