I am working on a project where the user is looking at a form with pre-filled information. They have the option to click "Edit" on different fields which takes them to a new layer to make selections etc.
I need it to do one of two things:
1. Drop down buttons on layer 3 change state of box on layer 2
or
2. Drop down buttons appear on layer 2, change state of box on layer 2 then scroll down box of buttons disappear when state of box changes.
I'm not sure if that's what you are trying to do, but you can certainly create custom dropdown lists that when selected change the value of a variable. Maybe you can share a screenshot or .story file for more info.
I can get it to work so long as the object that i am trying to change the state of is on the base layer. I have attached a really rough example of what i need it to do - imagine that there is a lot more on the pages and the layers are unavoidable :(

They are both possible, and the attached sample shows both of them. Take your pick.
