showing object on slide after another object shown visited
Sep 10, 2013
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a text box to show on a slide only AFTER another object has been visited.
My slide has 3 layers. For client confidentiality reasons I can't show the slide, but here is the order I have my triggers in:
rectangle 1:
show layer 1
when user clicks
change state of rectangle 1 to visited
when user clicks
rectangle 2:
show layer 2
when user clicks
change state of rectangle 2 to visited
when user clicks
then I want text box 1 only to appear on the base layer after the top 2 layers show as visited.
I've been trying to figure it out for 3 hours now, but somehow think I'm missing something. So the last set of triggers is as follows:
text box 1:
change state of text box 1 to hidden
when the timeline starts
change state of text box 1 to normal
when the state of rectangle 1 AND rectangle 2 are visited
show layer 3
when user clicks
So what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help!

Good Morning, Roxy.
When creating a slide with a similar design, I was able to mimic your results. I then found that rather than changing the state of Text Box 1 to hidden when the timeline starts, simply setting the Initial state of Text Box 1 to hidden seems to resolve the problem.
Attached is a working copy of my .story project file. Please let us know if you have any other trouble. Thanks!
Thanks Justin! I had no idea about setting the initial state. At first it didn't work and I couldn't figure out why.. then on turning off the animation it worked. Is it at all possible to have an animation applied and still have it show afterwards? Not a big deal at this stage, more of a curiosity thing now, just happy that it's working
Hello again, Roxy.
Here are two Forum Threads that discuss applying animations to state changes:
