Css Problems with variable text entry

May 24, 2016

Hello,

I have read a lot in all the entries of this forum that i could find but still haven´t found a solution that works..

When generating a variable text entry from my content producer´s PC, if you look at the output in html5, the size of a text entry variable doesn´t work.

After analyzing the css in the page it is happening because the generated css is 24,5 instead of 24.5. (A comma instead of a dot)

I have read that this is because my content producers OS system (windows 10) is not configured in English (It is in Spanish).

I have tried to change the decimal point to a comma in the OS settings as a few posts suggested, republished and still.. No success.

I do not want to change the language of my clients computer, since it is the only alternative that seems that might (posibly) work.

Is there any other work around that I have missed? If not, since it is quite clearly a bug and should not be difficult to solve, is there any thought on it being solved any time soon?

Sorry to bother you.

Miguel

Hi Miguel!

Are you reporting that the size is not being retained as you expect? Is the box large enough for the items being entered or are you experiencing a shrink to fit behavior? If the latter, be sure to expand the text box size to accommodate the text and you should not experience this behavior.

If I'm misunderstanding, sharing the applicable threads you've read could assist :)

If you have something you need us to take a look at, please share a sample .story file.

Just wanted to note here that we do not support the modification of published output.

Hi,

I´ve re-read my entry and it wasn´t at all clear.. Sorry.

This is the issue I am talking about:

As I said I have tried changing the format of the comma to a . in windows 10, still does´t work.

It is exactly that problem yes. We have updated to version 9, tried it out, and no success.

The .story file would be kind of pointless since when producing the output it would not produce the same output as ours, but if you want I can upload it to.

I have published a one slide story illustrating the problem. The text inside the donut box (the number 0) is supposed to be font 18 (a 24.5px) but it writes 24,5px and therefore only shows it as a 10px text, the default css I suppose.

It is not a browser problem for sure, but in case its useful my content producers pc is a windows 10 OS, and the language is Spanish. I have tried changing the , to a . in the computer settings as suggested in that entry but still.. It doesn´t seem to be solved.
