Custom slider trigger need

Greetings all! I have an usual (at least for me) trigger need for a slider. First, there is a text field next to the slider that displays the value of the slider as the slider is moved up and down the scale (easy). HOWEVER, what I need now is a trigger that is activated only when the mouse is released and then the final value of the slider is evaluated. This can easily be done if using a Submit button, but my client doesn't want the learner to use the Submit button. He want's the evaluation to occur the instant the mouse is released. The trick is that both the text field value tracker AND the mouse release trigger are needed.
Any clues? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Hi Russell
see if the attached rough sample helps. I have changed the slider options to display a hidden text box 'when learner releases mouse' not 'when slide is dragged'
Thank you Wendy for your reply. However, when the "Update" field is changed to "When learner releases" the text box that is tracking the value of the slider as it is sliding does not track. I'm afraid I may be in a Catch-22 situation.
Cheers, Russ
Maybe try using two sliders (set one off stage) that moves as the other one moves - one set to learner release, the other when slider dragged.
That would require the 2 sliders to be linked somehow. Is that possible? If so, that would solve the need, but don't know how to link the 2 sliders; so moving one causes the other to also move. I suspect it is done using the variables, but not sure of the triggers.
Thanks and cheers, Russ
Hi Russell
see if this helps you or gives you an idea how to proceed.
Hello Wendy - sorry for the delay in responding to your last post and example. Unfortunately, the example does not work. The 3 sentences on the top right that are supposed to display when the slider is "released" (mouse up), are displaying when the slider passes over that value with the mouse still down.
Hi Russell
see if this works - the text on the right doesn't appear (for me) until I release the mouse
Thanks Wendy, but still no luck. Now the other function is not working, the tracking of the slider values as the slider is moving. Now you can see the problem I'm having. Because the Update setting for Slider 1 is set to "When learner releases" the variable of Slider 1 is not updated so slider 2 can't follow, and only gets updated when the mouse is released.
It is either one or the other, but not both at the same time UNLESS the Submit button is used (which the client doesn't want - but may have to give in somewhere, either don't track or use the Submit).
Thanks and cheers,
