Custom Tab in Player

Jan 03, 2024

I'd like to either create a custom tab in the Player that is similar to the Resource tab, but shows the photo credits for a specific slide.  We typically get our photos from one source so I don't mind it being on all the slides. I do not want it to be a specific slide, I just want it to be a small drop down (like the Resource tab) but I cannot figure out how to do that. Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you!

This post explains how to add a custom tab to the Player: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/tip-create-custom-player-tabs-for-your-resources-glossary-and-more

The example in the post is for adding a custom Resources slide. But the same steps work for adding any kind of content that needs to be accessible throughout the course.

The trigger options for a Player Tab are limited.

I assume that JavaScript could show a small drop-down. (I can't help with that.)

Another option would be to show the info via a layer on the Master Slide. However, the button for showing that layer would also need to be on the Master Slide. In other words, the "tab" wouldn't be part of the Player; it would take up space on the slide.

Here's an example of how you could do it. I attached the .story file. Personally I wouldn't build it this way because it requires triggers on each slide (or slide master).

Two thoughts:

  1. If you're not using the resource tab, retitle the resource tab and add the credits there. Even if you are using resources, you can add the credits as a text file.
  2. I wrote a post on different ways to do attribution.
