Is it possible to customize the course navigation menu to accomodate branching structure. For example, if I select Braching 1 path, the menu should collapase/lock/grayout the barch 2 path. Possible?
You can achieve that via triggers, variables and states. Use a variable to track path selection and then use triggers on the menu slide to change the state of the menu items to 'disabled' or hidden.
The menu that is generated from the Player set up, is not accessible for variables and triggers. I suspect Alex was referring to creating a custom menu on a slide (maybe as a lightbox?) that you could adjust the state of elements on to help indicate where the user is throughout the course.
As it stands, if you intend to use the stock menu from the player you are only able to restrict access (in linear form), which doesn't really achieve what you want, unless you are willing to split your story into two separate ones. If you are, then there is a workaround, but there's much more work involved, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for a quick response Alex!
So it would mean that I have to build a separate menu? Can I customize the default Storyline menu to achieve it?

What is this menu slide of which you speak? I've got a menu layer on each slide. Can I build one as a slide that would slide in/out when needed?
(Obviously I'm new to custom menus...)
The default slide navigation menu.

Yes, I was referring to building a custom menu.
