Data Entry issue

Hello Storyliners,
I've made a Data Entry box where the user will enter his username and connected it with a continue button, the continue button is disabled until user enters his username then the continue button state changes to normal, it is working fine but my problem is that I have to click on stage after entering the username to make the normal state of the button really appear, but if I click on the button anyway it works and jumps to the next slide.
I don't want to click on stage to make the button state change appear.
Thanks!

Instead of disabling it why not make the button always clickable and show a layer to say enter your password if it us a null value
Thanks phil!
But this is the client request, isn't there anyway to do it?
Hi Suzan and welcome to Heroes!
Clicking outside the text entry box is what allows the "control to lose focus" and therefore can be used as a trigger. Maybe instead of setting it up with a trigger you could make it appear on the timeline after giving the users an opportunity to enter their username?
As ashley says the variable has no value until the control loses focus, sometimes we cannot do everything our clients want.
